I've heard great things about this LP, but my own laziness and ignorance stopped me from listening to this until the end of December, yikes.

Either way, Jack Stauber definitely has a distinct approach to songwriting and lo-fi, hypnagogic pop that's pretty mesmerising. Though he is most respected for his YouTube content and personality, Stauber's music is ambitious, colorful and entertaining by itself.

hilo is one of the most entertaining albums i've ever heard... it is simultaneously melancholic and joyful. it's nostalgic without being cheap! super pleasant & easy to listen to but remains engaging and unpredictable!!! much love for mr stauber ♡

I can't help but adore Staubers approach to songwriting on this album. The way he modifies the electric pop sound to make his own kind of genre is really unique and always fun to listen to. At its best moments this is such a fun album to listen to, but I think there were a lot of filler tracks hear that so pretty mediocre to me. Overall it's a nice listen and just a pretty good pop album that seems to live in its own lane. I'm excited to see what's coming next from Jack.

Strange and off the wall, far better than Viator but not as refined or well crafted as Pop Food.

Best Track: Pizza Boy
Worst Track: Leopard
