I love the sound of La Roux’s debut record. The blanketing synths over this record are GORGEOUS and nostalgic in tone, making me think of the summertime California coast. I also totally forgot about that one song “Bulletproof”, so when it came on, I was taken aback by how long I forgot about it.

A solid synthpop album. While the instrumentation may feel samey at points, La Roux's voice really shines through it all. And sometimes they compliment each other very well. Like with Roux's angelic vocals on the closer "Armour Love" mixed with the grimey snares, and the hit singles "Bulletproof" and "In for the Kill". Overall, a decent listen.
Very Solid Album. A bit inconsistent at times but the some songs are truly amazing such as Tigerlily and In for the Kill which saves the Album and hides the inconsistency of this album. La Roux shows us she has a great voice and the production is overall good but nothing amazing. A Solid Debut. A Solid 7

Jackson’s falsetto works ... read more
