A.V. Club

Lotic’s debut full-length, Power, comprises many of the same whirring spikes of anxious electronic sound that blast through 2015’s Agitations and Heterocetera EPs. But rather than aim darts at the listener, Lotic ... offers a path through the barbs, leading the audience right back to themselves.

Ultimately, the album's message is one of fearlessness and self-empowerment, and it's the most inspiring work Lotic has crafted.
The 405

While Power conjures up one of the most hectic, impenetrable, and eclectic listening experiences of the year, it’s above all, a true rags to riches story, one that complexingly captures a struggling artist on the verge of fulfilling immense potential.

On Power, Lotic shows that there are no boundaries and no blueprint to their craft, both musically and conceptually.

Overall, Power is a highly impressive body of work from a producer who continues to engage and surprise with each release.

Albums from Lotic have always been ambitious, and that has verged into an almost mechanical demeanor when it comes to the music. Not to say that the works were devoid of emotion, but there was something inherently cold-blooded about the corpus of this work. At least so far, because Power makes a turn towards something more organic and compassionate.

The Skinny
Through it all, Lotic maintains a deep sense of nuance, sounds constantly morphing and remaining grippingly vital, still with great emotional intensity around every corner.
Resident Advisor

Beside the raucous revolts of Heterocetera and Agitations, Power feels like the introspective aftermath, and an unapologetic embrace of vulnerability.

‘Power’ is one of the most important electronic albums of the year, and luckily, it’s one of the best.

On Power, Lotic re-harnesses their production proficiency toward a trickier goal than what they’ve attempted in the past. In the center of their elaborate electronic constructions, they’ve staged their deeply human terrors and triumphs, and traced the way the power structures of the world flow around them.

Spectrum Culture

Though the threat of violence looms overhead and moments of beauty are rarely allowed to exist unscathed, Power’s optimism is dizzying.

Crack Magazine

Perhaps Power’s greatest quality is that while it’s no less experimental than previous EPs, Lotic’s decision to add their own vocals peels open a sensitive core inside their creations – one which you might not have spotted previously. And in vulnerability, there is power

Rolling Stone
Vacillating between synthetic noise and vulnerable vocals, Lotic turns dance music textures into abstract expressionism – the results are sometimes protest, sometimes singer-songwriter statement, sometimes sheer dystopia, but usually fascinating.
The Guardian
This is a clanging, disruptive splatter of a debut, which speaks to the frustration of otherness through sheer feeling, rather than easily digestible vocals.
Loud and Quiet
While ‘Power’ doesn’t appear to be a work of Morgan’s full force, with precious few distinguishing moments in today’s wealth of experimental electronic music, it certainly feels consistent with the movement at its best.
Mas ... read more
yea sorry this just isn't a fulfilling album to me
Catchy and interesting- but sometimes feels experimental just for the sake of being experimental. If being weird produces a more compelling song then cool, but sometimes on this album I'm not sure that happens.
Love and Light - 9/10 // Hunted - 6/10 // Bulletproof - 7/10 // Distribution of Care - 8/10 // The Warp and the Weft - 6/10 // Resilience - 6/10 // Fragility - 8/10 // Nerve - 6/10 // Heart (feat. Moro) - 6/10 // Power - 7/10 // Solace - 5/10
This is one of the more haunting and engaging electronic albums of the year, and may find its way as the best of its genre by the end of the year.
