An absurdly fun record from a band about cum.
The deranged topics that some of the songs go to from Johnny fucking dying from a cycling accident (this is the opening track), getting buff as shit to kick sand in Alex's face, to getting revenge at the hospital by ferociously pissing everywhere (???) just has me going "hee hee hee, yup" as I spent 35 minutes listening to 10cc.

A pretty great first album from prog pop virtuosos 10cc, it's a wonderful blend of various pop music pastiches with cleverly subtle and humorous lyrics, and catchy songs for days. The highlights being "Rubber Bullets" with its fiery instrumental, "Fresh air for my mama" which sounds like it was ripped straight out of Billy Joel's handbook, and "The Dean and I" with its storytelling and snappy musicianship.

Strange mash of Steely Dan and the Beach Boys that brings none of the warmth or wit along with it.
I'm mad that 10cc, and this album isn't talked about more. This has got to be the best art rock record to exist. All of these songs are absolute hits.
This album made me think of a mix of four different bands, which were Frank Zappa, Ween, ELO, and ABBA. 10cc and Zappa both thrive on satire, absurd lyrics, and serious musical skill disguised as humor. I thought of Ween because they both lean heavily into studio weirdness, genre hopping, and stylistic mimicry, all while masking the seriousness of what they’re doing beneath the surface and never losing their hook appeal.
