CRITIC REVIEWS

Exclaim!

Like every great EP, Moodie is a succinct collection that flies by without overstaying its welcome. Yuno has demonstrated some remarkable skill in producing strikingly expressive pop music from the comforts of his bedroom.

Loud and Quiet

It’s clear that Yuno isn’t just paying homage to the influences he loves. He’s channeling all of their best qualities to create new worlds: ones that are often brightly coloured, captivating, and full of surprises.

75
Northern Transmissions

Throughout Yuno’s new album, there’s so many wondrous tones and unique grooves that you’ll be entranced as each song opens. With very little changing in these tracks however, you may find yourself wanting more out of the writing in the songs.

60
Dork

‘Moodie’ is packed with special sonic moves and a refreshingly wilful disregard for genre.

45
Spectrum Culture

It’s the music nutritional equivalent of a single puffed Cheeto. A bit tasty, but mostly unsatisfying, overproduced and probably not great for you.

Yuno's 'Moodie' is six tracks that deal with love, in particular the heartbreak of love. This is done under the guise of warm, comforting and energetic summertime music sounds. The end result is a hook-laden affair that grabs your attention and refuses to let go.

Animal Collective, Tame Impala, and Toro y Moi had a baby and it makes beautiful music. As Palpatine once told Anakin, "We will be watching your career with great interest."

This comes across as a compilation of the various sounds and inspirations of Yuno, experimenting with Indie Pop, Neo Psychedelia, and even Psychedelic Rock. I will be keeping an eye on his career as I see huge potential here.
