This is peak coheed. Claudio doesn't sound abysmal here, Ill take his girly ass voice compared to his overharmonized, overproduced voice that comes after this. A lot of the tracks have this prog-punk feel that isnt overbearing or too melow. This is overall very nice.

While Coheed and Cambria’s debut album set up the whole narrative, they made sure that “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3” was epic enough to support a better paced part of the story. The result is an ambitious concept album that builds upon its predecessor and adds longer lengths, groovier instrumentation, catchier melodies and all-around better writing.

In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth launches Coheed from being an emo band with some good chops into full blown prog rock kings. Aspects of the album have not aged well, but its also nuts to think this album is almost 20 years old and still ripping hard with catchy riffs, anthemic lyrical pronouncements, and tight drumming. Production was really tweaked with how these songs are performed live, but here we see a more refined and tight nit production which would be expanded on in their later ... read more
