CRITIC REVIEWS

XXL

At a hefty 25 songs, Rolling Papers 2 is an ambitious effort that works in large pockets, but ultimately comes across as uneven due to the sheer amount of filler.

It may take more than one sitting to get through it, but anyone who dives in as fan will discover there are plenty of contact highs to be had.

Rolling Papers 2 is quite the surprise. Even a contradiction in terms. Khalifa’s persona isn’t nearly ready to hoist up what’s essentially a double album, and, yet, this is largely the most focused and invested he’s sounded since Taylor Allderdice.

AllMusic

Though there are highlights, the majority of Rolling Papers 2 is repetitive filler, uninspired with overly similar beats backing rhymes from Wiz that feel absently recited.

Pitchfork

The latest album from Wiz is a bloated and expensive version of the rap he’s always made but without that signature effortlessness.

Wiz Khalifa has carved out a niche for himself, the stoner kid turned baller, that has served him well so far. But it is far too limiting for a project this ambitious, and Rolling Papers 2 suffers badly because of it.

welcome to a new episode of overly long albums filled with filler to rack up streaming numbers and promoting it as a sequel to a better, shorter album to have more attention, when in reality is just mediocre trash that demostrates that you ain't even trying anymore, today we'll be

Don't have much to say about this one. Rolling Papers was an underrated album, but this was just flat out boring.

As a "Rolling Papers" sequel it sucks, but the entire vibe is enjoyable even if Wiz doesn't crank out any classics or anything catchy enough to gain huge radio play.

Rolling Papers 2 is bloated, oversaturated, and uninspired. Not even the well fitting features can save Wiz's unenthusiasm.
