Resident Advisor

With Compro, his second album as Skee Mask, Müller pulls back slightly from the '90s breakbeat sound he's known for. This time he dips into ambient music, IDM and jungle with an atmospheric lean, creating some of the most powerful yet restrained cuts in his catalogue.

This record’s emotional valence—between collapse and grace, unity and emptiness—will resonate with anyone who's ever caught an unexpected sunrise in a concrete room. Yet his depth and clarity of vision resists formula. Making music “to get lost in” is overrated—Compro takes you somewhere new.

Exclaim!

Compro represents a refinement of recent Skee Mask material. IDM proclivities and anthemic sub-bass permeate much of the album, where every moment of endearment is matched equally by percussive excellence and sonic intrepidity.

Yeah so this thing totally knocked me flat and I think it's one of 2018's best electronic albums easily, but fucking hell man I implore you to listen to track 3 with the best system you can get your hands on, just get as immersed in it as possible bc the way the beat comes in at the start will have you feeling like you've ascended into a 8th dimensional being of pure light energy, shit's pretty lit.

It’s standoffish, it’s eerie, it’s icy cold, it’s expansive and just all so overwhelming at points. The best electronic release of the year so far - whatever you ... read more

Sorry Jaar and Hopkins, but this is the best electronic album of the year.

I'm getting Burial x Aphex Twin vibes what's not to like?

The flow to this album is constantly shifting and moving, beautiful and somber one minute and schizophrenic the next. Lots to explore, very detailed and textured electronic beats. Definitely a highlight of the year.
