God Is in the TV

The vocals sound like a cocktail of ground gravel and whiskey, a recognisable and welcome Mark Lanegan tone, yet the overall style and pace of this album feels more consistently singular than some of his previous work.


Throughout his 32-year career, Mark Lanegan has sounded original approximately twice: at the apex of his time with the Screaming Trees, and right now.

Loud and Quiet

Blues or country fans will appreciate the emotive guitar, raw vocals and lyrics that veer predictably from sorrowful to hopeful and back. But while ‘With Animals’ is tender and even vulnerable, the more optimistic tracks aren’t quite as dynamic as you might hope from two journeymen songwriters.

Oh wow, this is sounding lovely, lets see where this leads:
Haunting in its looping guitars and the broken voice at its centre clutching vulnerable words.
Living in a similar world as Nick Cave and the Bad Seed's brilliant "Skeleton Tree" LP. (Not as brilliant though, or at least not so far)
Also hear flashes of Jonny Cash (his american releases though, just before his death),
Its becoming a genre of its own, Musicians voices that haven been eaten by age releasing these haunted ... read more
