Simply put, the songs feel unfinished, which is a shame because — and here’s the crazy part — they’re all so good. Even without the video clips, Whack is able to express nearly every emotion a woman can experience in a 24-hour period, backed by a myriad of musical styles.

Pitchfork
The surreal, audiovisual album from the Philadelphia artist is only 15 minutes long, but it is overflowing with hooks and a powerful sense of imagination.

The 405

A snappy, hilarious, disturbing, damnably catchy, but most importantly, complete showcase for one of the most exciting young musicians to emerge – in any genre – for some time.

Spectrum Culture

This is the rare project that’s truly unmoored from genre.

The Needle Drop
The debut album from Philly hip hop artist Tierra Whack is an endearing set of pop rap and alternative R&B miniatures.

A brief collage of themes and unfinished motifs ranging and exploring a plethora of different hip-hop/RnB flavours with unexpected skill. The sketchy quality of the project may be a turnoff for some, but at the same time it works as Tierra Whack's first testament to her own talent and ear for sound and poetry, with little devotion for pre-definite form-and-content rules. It is difficult to pinpoint the short album runtime as a definite winning formula of late (and whether this will remain ... read more

Revolutionary, colorful and changing everything i know before mini lp.

Every second of this album is like a great experience.

Black Nails, Cable Guy and Hookers is a wonderful perfect score and I do not belittle the fact that there are one minute track.

WHY DOES YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE HIGH RATE ALBUM "You're Dead" Flying Lotus, since there are a lot of tracks with lengths like "1:24, 0:40, 1:12, 1:27" etc. and do not accuse me of not knowing what the interlude is. ... read more

Being mad that these songs aren't long enough, is strange to me, its the style of the album, and I wish more albums followed their own unique designs, maybe then popular music wouldn't be so unbearable. Shiloh Dynasty showed that these shorter songs, can garner great attention, this is that formula brought to wondrous heights

I think this debut now builds great hype around her sophomore effort, more than any of her contempories and fuck its a crowded room too. Its a great new ploy to use, I ... read more

When I first heard about this album I had the expectation that the only way it could have gone was a collection of unfinished ideas that wouldn't have flowed together cohesively. I was pleasantly surprised to find this wasn't entirely the case. Although a few tracks end up feeling like the concept was forced upon them, the majority of this album is full of quick clips that are entertaining and well constructed. A few songs are actually have a lot of replay value as well, even running at a mere ... read more

I love what she's going for with this album, however every song feels incomplete. At times it's hard to listen to due to the short song lengths, as you begin to get into a song it just ends... I'm excited to see what whack has to offer in the future though, and some of these outlines, if translated into full length songs could be amazing.
