AllMusic
As lots of bands have been only too glad to advertise, it's tough to make a shoegaze album in the late 2010s that doesn't sink into hero worship or suffer by comparison to the work of the originals. Even Ride and Slowdive had trouble! That Tanukichan have come up with an album that sounds original and true while bringing deep emotions along for the ride is truly something worth commending.

Pitchfork

A thoroughly dazed album that conjures a daydream so immersive (if not always so idyllic), it precludes any intrusive thoughts.

Northern Transmissions
For Tanukichan’s newest release deep pits of reverb and chorus are ripped open by sharp guitars and taken to somewhere completely new. Though it’s overdone at times, this album serves as a tone-piece for an entire new sound.
70
Loud and Quiet

The multi-instrumentalist doesn’t simply plug in a Big Muff and turn the gain all the way up; there’s restraint here too, perfectly framing her angelic voice and bittersweet lyrics about dealing with reality and growing as a person.

The 405

Sundays may not be a collection that will live long in the memory, but when it rises out of its spiritual funk there’s a glimpse of something sparkling in amongst the fuzz and breathy introspection.

GIGsoup
In an effort to infuse both dreampop and shoegaze elements, Tanukichan achieves a soundscape that is memorable, but sometimes feels lost in translation.
50
God Is in the TV

Sundays feels appropriate right now and is surprisingly relaxing despite the fuzzy elements but it doesn’t demand the attention to avoid it dissolving into background music, lacks memorable lyrics to make it quotable, lacks the edgy streak of which her project’s name suggests.

50
PopMatters
For most of the album ... Tanukichan seems stuck between really relaxed and more pop-oriented, without quite finding a balance to make her songs compelling.

まず名前がめちゃくちゃ良い。内容はMy Bloody Valentineへの大きな愛を感じさせるガールズデイドリーミーポップで、これもまた良し。

As the name suggests, Hannah Van Loon's (aka Tanukichan) album is perfect for a lazy, breezy Sunday afternoon and whilst it is undoubtedly charming, it does lack originality and substance at times.
