Devoid of any choruses, commercial fare, an overall conceptual vision that actively games the streaming farm, the project beams with authenticity. Bar for bar and beat for beat, Streams of Thought Vol. 1 is a hyper example that the arguments for overall vibe over bars don’t have to be absolute.
Ultimately, Thought’s first solo release does what’s expected of him; I just wish it did a little more.
Backed by production from 9th Wonder and his team, Black Thought comes through with five tracks of STRAIGHT BARS on Streams of Thought, Vol. 1.
It is rigorous but rarely hermetic, a small testament to his sustained excellence.
True to the title, he doesn't offer any choruses, just streams of verses that cover his own lyrical prowess, history and politics, and whatever else comes to mind.
Okay, so I came across Black Thought after I listened to "Cheat Codes", one of the best albums of last year. Lyrical miracles will claim they're the best rappers in the world, but have never made a back-to-back as good as Dostoyevsky into Making A Murderer. References ranging from Trae Young to Hunter S. Thompson will leave your head spinning, and these beats give Black Thought all the room in the world to lay his lyrical havoc in only the way he can. Everything on there iis perfect from front to back ,lyricism production it even had a strong energy to it .
Features were dope an black thought still obliterated them.
I can only take back points for it not being long enough ,like I just needed it to hit that 24-25 minute mark .
