After falling hard in 2004, The Vines continue to release albums every three years or so. I approach this with low expectations as the band approaching the 20th anniversary of their debut Highly Evolved has yet to evolve beyond the same stale guitar rock that made them famous for a brief two year period in the early aughts. Simple songs as ever but that's what the vines are all about; their lack of giving a shit and writing bangers. Feels like a more cohersive album than wicked nature and the production makes it all that much better. Would never write a review usually but after seeing the ones written for this album I felt like I had to give my positive input. Stop living in 2004, the songs may be very similar but the production's improved and it's a summer album to have fun with. Just hope for less of a gap ... read more
