If this really is the final Spiritualized album, I can't think of a better way to end it. And Nothing Hurt is the most singularly beautiful record Pierce has released, and easily one of the 2018's most impressive and expansive releases. Hats off, Spaceman.

One of the most emotional records of 2018 without a doubt.

Only problem with it was that it got really boring because it was super repetitive. I almost fell asleep while listening.

I feel like since Im not a fan of Spirtualized, only having listened to one other album, I cannot fully appreciate this work. It just wasn't for me.

If this is their last album, then there's no better way to end such an expansive and (quite literally) otherworldly career.

Soaring, elegant, dazzling, spellbinding...Those are just a few of the words that come to mind when describing this album. Jason Pierce captures the cosmic sound of everlasting bliss like no other artist, and his mastery shines triumphantly shines through from beginning to end.

And Nothing Hurt is the perfect sendoff, one that makes you want the band to never leave, ... read more

If I gotta honest, a pretty out of this world experience for Spiritualized that I didn't expect much going in. At this point, Pierce has been so expansive with his psychedelic and artistic sound that if this IS the closing chapter to this spaceman's journey, it's a deserved one to say the least.

And Nothing Hurt plays true to its title. It's an easy and breezy listen with jangling Velvet Underground-like rambles that would make even Lou Reed cry.

I don’t think this is nearly as timeless or as genre-defining as anything else in Jason Pierce’s discography. But, I think this is one of his most human, and in-the-moment releases to date. It’s an album of every human emotions in very surreal atmospheres. It’s an album of immense loneliness that finds beauty and love in places you wouldn’t. It’s hazy and often surreal, but it’s also incredibly colorful and beautiful. And if this truly is the last ... read more

I don't understand if I'm listening to the same album as everyone else. I couldn't get through this slog again if it was 23-minute Yeezy SZN special. Some cheesy lyrics here and there and the vocals and instrumentals don't even sound like they were meant to go together.

I don't wanna do comparisons here, but I couldn't help but feel a big Velvet Underground vibe from this album. This is largely due to the incredibly lavish and multi-layered instrumentation, the very emotional and personal song writing, and Jason Pierce's voice. The spirit of Lou Reed really does live on in this guy. There are some moments where the songs get a little repetitive or overstay their welcome without really changing anything, but other than that this is a great final project.

so long, and thanks for all the music.

My 2 year old loves it and gives it 90. Must be the tambourine. I’m kinda partial.

Wow. And Nothing Hurt might be Jason Pierce's last album under Spiritualized but if it is, it'll be remembered as one of the best final albums of the 2010's. This nine-track album feels at first-sight short but it is 49 minutes of compelling songwriting, beautiful audio surroundings and epic instrumentation. Starting things off with the strong and heart breaking slow burner " A Perfect Miracle" whose verses feel like they could be playing on dozens of weddings but the chorus totally ... read more

Jason Pierce sounds like a man who has been through a lot. Every breath on his latest (and potentially final) Spiritualized album is laborious and slighter than he's ever sounded. But rather than crumbling under the weight of his physical and mental struggles, Pierce goes marching on, and on And Nothing Hurt, he continues on making his signature brand of beautiful, symphonic space rock sound as good as it ever has. The melodies are soft and beautiful, and the lyrics are equally as poignant. ... read more

This new Spiritualized album is an ok listen but fails to progress in even the slightest way from the sound that the band has been working with for years. Most of the songs here are sparklingly bright and floaty but in a way that reflects the bands comfort zone with which they’ve placed themselves. I can’t really hate on it because they’ve shown that this is their sound but it leads to some of the most boring and predictable music that they’ve released. The first four ... read more

This is a solid album that maintains a strong sense of wonder and a genuinely unique sound that does not entirely fit into one box or another. However, this album becomes somewhat repetitive from my perspective, as that unique sound maintains itself and doesn't change up drastically throughout.

Add Nothing Hurt is the band's purest and most low-key record to date. That doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

Eles conseguiram pegar influências do power pop, do belle & sebastian, do bruce springsteen e coisas do tipo. Uma sonoridade mta rica em arpejos, sopros, cordas, com uma atmosera mto delicada que perpassa todo o disco ... read more

Well, I guess this is really it for Spiritualized.

Six years after his 2012 release, "Sweet Heart Sweet Light", Spiritualized finishes off his almost 30 year career with an album filled with, well, not the same emotion as usual. I think for the most part I can appreciate this album, it's a solid release and by no means is it bad. I just think that there could've been so much more to this album than there was. In a sense it seems like the band didn't have nearly as many ideas as ... read more

Spiritualized is a space rock band fronted by Jason Pierce (J. Spaceman), formerly of Spaceman 3 (of which former member Peter Kember, also known as Sonic Boom, broke from. He would later produce records for MGMT and Beach House). This is the first Spiritualized album I have heard, and already, there is nothing like this album.

Hearing that this may be the band's last album, it seems to be fitting as a closer for some sort of chapter if anything at all. Most of the songs are interesting and a ... read more
