An unrivaled classic, Supreme Clientele marked a seismic rupture with rap tradition. It’s Tony Starks, invulnerable and silvery, casting stream-of-consciousness hexes from a general who survived hell.

Tiny Mix Tapes
He speaks in a highly encoded language, coming across as completely alien on first listen, but if you pick apart his verses, they make profound sense in small portions, as if he were spitting clear stream-of-consciousness thoughts straight from his brain.

PopMatters
Aside from the occasional aggravating skit that drones on for too long, the album is chockfull of spit-polished Wu-isms and catchy-as-hell beats, as well as knob-turning from none other than the RZA, Inspectah Deck, and the Mathematics, making it the closest thing to a true Wu record that we’ve seen in awhile.

AllMusic

Ghostface's Supreme Clientele is a step toward the Wu-Tang Clan's ascent from the ashes of their fallen kingdom. The once slumbering Wu-Tang strikes again.

This album and especially the lead single “Apollo Kids” will rock many boomboxes and car stereos for months to come.

There are plenty of other highlights: ‘Stroke Of Death’‘s genuinely innovative – if queasy – scratching; ‘One”s strident soul introduction to the album; Redman, Ghostface, Method Man (hooray!) and Cappadonna (boo!) exchanging blows on ‘Buck 50’… but, as with most Wu releases, one-sixth of the album could’ve been shaved off to make it truly essential.

Rolling Stone
The album goes a long way toward reuniting the otherwise disparate Clan itself. RZA produces or mixes at least four of Clientele's tracks; Inspectah Deck produces another; Raekwon, Method Man, Cappadonna, GZA and Masta Killah all kick in support, and even the kung-fu snippets return. Still, Ghostface keeps a firm grip on the mike.

The Independent
The Wu-man's second solo album is a relentless blast of rapping and, while it's hardly a pioneering production job, there are enough surprise samples and skits from his superhero/mad scientist persona of Iron Man/Tony Stark to make it enjoyable to the end.

Entertainment Weekly
For Wu diehards, the by-the-book plays outweigh its hefty deficits: tawdrey skits and exhausting length. As for charming the uninitiated, this hasn’t a ghust of a chance.

Here's a question: should rap music be fun?

"No," someone like Ka might say.

"Depends on the mood," someone like Nas might say.

"Ayo, what kind of stupid fucking question is that," someone like Ghostface Killah would 100% say.

Ghostface Killah is the MC every MC wants to be. He walks with Cam'Ron swagger and raps with DOOM attention to detail. He receives mainstream success from Wu-Tang glory and more genuine love from his solo ventures. He *easily* has the ... read more

POWERHOUSE!

THESE BEATS ARE PRISTINE DESPITE CLICHE HOOKS AND CHORUS'. THE ALBUM IS FRESH FROM THE 90's... BUT IT WAS PUBLISHED IN 2000, THE SAME YEAR OUTKAST, AND EMINEM MADE THEIR BEST ALBUM, ALSO DELTRON 3030 WAS INCREDIBLE.

THIS ALBUM IS MORE PROOF THAT 2000 WAS ONE OF THE BEST YEARS OF MUSIC.... PERIOD...

After Ironman, which was already insane, Ghostface came back and somehow levelled up again. Supreme Clientele is just elite hip hop. Like, this is the album where he fully solidified himself as a patron in hip-hop. You could already feel it coming, but here he’s simply untouchable.

That opening stretch is just ridiculous: Nutmeg, One, Saturday Nite, Ghost Deini, Apollo Kids... straight up flawless. And One’s genuinely one of the best hip-hop songs ever. The way he just rips through ... read more

Great Album , but Like many Rap Albums from That Era , It's Dragged Down By Unnecessary Skits that Drag for Too Long , Get Rid Of The Skits , and It's Much Better .

I Really Like How Lush This Album Sounds , and I Really Like GFK's Confidence and Swagger . The Jiggiest Wu Tang .

Favorite Song :Wu Banga 101

Favorite Interlude : Stroke of Death (the Beat Is So Weird , in a good way , that I Can't Help but Smile Everytime I Hear It) .

Give it a Spin If You're a Big ... read more
