Pitchfork

The ferocious 21-year-old shapeshifter comes through with one of the hardest rap records of the year.

Spectrum Culture

While rising rappers often end up with their identities groomed out once they hit the big time, Nasty is the rare major-label debut at the intersection of artistry and intent.

Highsnobiety
The album is purposefully disorienting and confusing, but it sends its message effectively. Rico Nasty is here and changing, but, most importantly, not going anywhere.

Rolling Stone

While her debut mixtape for Atlantic Records doesn't feel like a major creative breakthrough, it's a solid introduction to a dynamic, hard-charging voice in what Rico herself dubs "sugar trap."

The Needle Drop
For the most part, Rico Nasty's, well, nasty persona is enough to carry this breakthrough album. Just hoping she can show a bit more versatility on future projects.

On this not-talked-about-enough album, Rico Nasty asserts herself as one of the filthiest rappers to breakout this year. Reminiscent of the crowd-riling aggression of circa 2010 Waka Flocka Flame and Odd Future, Rico Nasty spits loudly, as if yelling, over beats that regularly match her aggression with warped guitars ("Countin' Up", "In the Air", "Rage"), forming an album that's somewhat of a punk-trap hybrid.

While it is clear this is Rico's debut project, this shit has some slapping bangers. It's a hype album for sure, and it absolutely slaps you in the face with the hardcore banger-rama that this album has. While it feels a little on the goofy side, it's still a huge push of adrenaline and energy with a charismatic and interesting MC. When people talk about how Lil Pump and Playboi Carti are good because 'it's just for 'bangers' and dumb fun', I can now point to this ... read more

I don’t care this is one of the best albums to listen to when you’re feeling a little down. This shit SLAPS. Except for a couple tracks at the end, this is just nonstop bangers. Rico has consistently catchy hooks and I love her confidence she shows in her music. The production is trap, but none of the beats sound the same. Even the worst song, Lala has a hard ass beat.

GREAT: Bitch I’m Nasty, Trust Issues, Pressing Me, Ice Cream, Transformer, Rage

GOOD: Countin’ Up, In ... read more
