Basement Jaxx’s first album “Remedy” came off as too conventional to me, too similar to other house music and not nearly as groundbreaking as it seems to be considered. On the opposite end of this spectrum, Basement Jaxx’s second album, “Rooty,” almost seems to be weird for the sake of being weird.

Loyal to the same, messy recipe, they lead their weird house towards a more conscious but least refreshing dancefloor.
