Ovlov started strong with Am; with TRU they have made good on all that promise and released the kind of breathtakingly great record most bands can only dream about making.

Northern Transmissions
While it can be a bit off-putting at times, their powerful writing and ability to experiment with dynamics makes the album the most interesting.

Ovlov sound refreshed and, in typical Ovlov fashion ... their sound and energy is wildly unexpected, constantly scratching a guitar-rock itch without becoming a nuisance.


With Tru, Hartlett soundly reasserts Ovlov’s signature strength: the band’s ability to fortify tender songs with muscular squall in a way that doesn’t obscure their emotional intent, but amplifies it.

Overall, TRU is a promising step for Ovlov, albeit one that doesn’t always succeed when it comes to standing out from its peers.

gosto bastante deste som de guitarra. Algmas harmonias mto boas, gosto do reverb/distorção e algns efeitos q deixam o som bem dreamy e shoegazy. Mas sei lá, depois de escutar os singles, me decepcionou um pouco. Fica repetitivo, nada mto diferente, esses elementos q mencionei chamam a atenção realmente em algmas 3 músicas pra mim.
Ovlov returns after 6 years with an album that does take a little while to get going, and it’s certainly not perfect. But when this album kicks into high gear, Ovlov remind us of what’s missing in so much of today’s Rock music. Between a heavy focus on a Guitar driven sound and Steve Hartlett’s often ridiculously passionate performances, there are tons to love here.
