Favorite tracks: Frames, New Amsterdam, Juiceboxx, Castle in the Sky
“Baby Grand” is an album suffering from an identity crisis. I’d pegged The Love Language as a peppy, twee-leaning indie pop band, and that niche seemed to be working for them. But the bounce of earlier singles like “Heart to Tell” is absent on “Baby Grand.” It’s an overproduced album, with too many ideas thrown into the mix, and it doesn’t help that The Love Language lack focus.
