We're under no illusions here — this music is ridiculous — but we'll be damned if it isn't the most interesting thing out there at the moment.

The Needle Drop

Clear Tamei and Steel Mogu deepen the sound and lore of Iglooghost, though hopefully his next full-length album will do so to a greater extent.


As the hero’s soundtrack, Clear Tamei is showered in light and delicate electronic sounds that cut through the overwhelming density of Iglooghost’s music.


"Memorable" isn't really a relevant word with this kind of music; you press play, live through it, come out the other end either exhilarated or exhausted.

For something so deranged, this EP is magnificantly stitched together by vocal scraps that weave in-between tracks. This is, to me the most serene and melodic Iglooghost has ever been, with great buildings of sound, that for once you can hear being built and torn apart, yes, it still has its hyperbolic moments but they are juxtaposed by calmer oceans of sound that give purpose to the sugar-skyscrapers of sound that black out the traditional bpm-sun. Without a doubt one of my favourite EPs of the year so far - it would be very easy to write this off as just a rehash of Neo Wax Bloom but doing so would be overlooking all the fine details and meticulousness that makes Iglooghost's work more of its own beast than just a wonky IDM discography. Amaziiiiing, what took me so long!!!
This EP is so full of energy, that it almost completely eliminates how I don't like a lack of vocals in my music.
