new order is the undisputed king of the album opener, so when i first heard 'who's joe'... i grew concerned. this album is a poor imitation of the best this band has to offer, and most of it feels like them performing with a really bad REM impression. skip it.

It's not a bad record but it kinda feels lost, especially for New Order, I think they tried to keep old fans whilst trying to keep up with the new sound and in turn it creates kinda disjointed tracks which don't seem to have much focus but ya know it's New Order so the songs are gonna be at least enjoyable

How pitiful, to gather, so desperately, what's left behind and create out of it, so carelessly, a new album by New Order!
And a friendly advice: don't wait for that call, it won't help you anyway!

The fact that this band came come back after years away from the music scene and can create a fantastic record that feels original, mdoern, and timeless is impressive on many front. Impressive in that it shows the band's creativity, influence of modern new wave music and the timelessness of their sound. It's remarkable in some regards how New Order's new stuff can be fantastic follow ups to their 80s classics.
