Hell fucking yes!! This is exactly what I want from metal. Vile Luxury is dizzying, intimidating, and above all else a fantastic explosion of passion. Sure the guitar could have used some extra oomph in the mix, but on all of my listens so far I quickly became accustomed to it.

EDIT: It is on there now, but this isn't nearly as good as I was hoping :(

The jazz interludes that are littered throughout capture the listener by surprise before the inevitable sonic onslaught that follows them - they do genuinely add another layer to the music and build a hazy atmosphere which is only added to by the band's traditional black metal leanings. I know this is still very much black metal but this sounds like it was recorded using a potato. For this avant-garde sound, I'd expect some more clarity. I think the drums sound stellar but everything else is mixed so strangely. Quite liking the jazz interludes and there seems to be some well-crafted, purposely off-putting atmospheres here.

EDIT: My biggest issue here is the guitars. They drown in the mix, overwhelmed by the raw, rattling bass.

Vile Luxury is one of the most unique musical projects I’ve heard this year. The seamless blend of Miles Davis inspired Jazz and hardcore Avant-garde Metal keep you on your toes.
