Some good moments, I love hearing Jenn Wasner's production develop as I love the sounds of Wye Oak. I wanted a little more to help this album stick out from the bevy of indie rock albums, but she has a good ear for melody, and I am eager to hear what her next project sounds like.

Madeline Kenney sounds like an artist who’s still coming into her own. “Perfect Shapes” is a promising, if green, sophomore album existing somewhere at the intersection of dream pop and art rock. Kenney herself is a very likable songwriter with a genre-appropriate voice and obvious talent and enough good ideas that it’s easy to see her having a breakout moment in, say, 2021.
