Pretty Much Amazing

Easily one of the most simultaneously hardest and atmospheric hip-hop albums of the year.

90
HipHopDX

Curry has constructed a project that plays to the sonic structures of the era without sacrificing meaningful content in doing so. TA13OO is the culmination of his promise and talent, resulting in Curry’s magnum opus.

Realistically, Ta13oo is extremely satisfying from a consumption standpoint. It’s everything I’d want from a rap album this year.

80
The Needle Drop

TA13OO's three-act concept could have used some fleshing out, but the music at the core is easily Denzel Curry's best yet.

80
AllMusic

With this additional substance and strategic guest contributions, Curry is elevated on TA13OO -- despite this deep dive into despair and darkness -- hinting at more insight on future efforts.

Pitchfork

The South Florida rapper carves out his own lane within the genre known as SoundCloud rap, displaying considerable versatility as he channels the pain and confusion of youth.

Highsnobiety
To call it psychedelic is a cliché, but the album is a multi-part, constantly-moving, collection of harsh emotions with a funky twist that works, even if the final leg slows down the momentum a tad.

So like... I have had this album on repeat for the last 4 hours. I didn’t really like Imperial for the lack of strong hooks, but TA13OO manages to surpass expectations with extremely dark production, catchy hooks, ear wormy melodies... it’s just overall incredibly solid front to back.

This album just doesn't have the bite I thought it would, he kinda played it safe here to me. The last 3 tracks are the top 3 imo, there were also many bad lines on this album, most of the beats are pretty dime a dozen too. Denzel's consistently sticky hooks and incredibly cut throat and untamed performances are what carried this thing for me, outside of that I can't say this has fulfilled me like I wanted it to.

One of the most interesting album concepts I've seen and listened to.
The first act from disc one, 'Light' features four quiet, softer tracks than the other two acts. With the intro track setting an opener and a great start to the overall album with the next song 'BLACK BALLOONS' which is one of the catchiest songs and hooks. It makes you want to dance.

The second act from disc 2, 'Gray', features five songs in which the instrumentals have gradually gotten louder, more drums and Denzel even ... read more

TA13OO is an extremely well-crafted album. The tracks' mood switches throughout 3 parts of this LP and brings rich variety of sounds. The 1st part is mostly lighter, more melodic and smoother (except for SUMO) compared to the rest of the LP, the 2nd part is darker and gloomier, while the 3rd is pretty much the heaviest and the most banger-filled part. I enjoy almost all tracks on TA13OO, maybe just except for PERCZ, ... read more
