Where Little Earthquakes considered the aftershocks of sexual assault, Under the Pink is a deep-dive into the process of recovery and rediscovery. The music is more open, Amos sounding nearly crazed at times she has so much energy in her voice. The piano melodies are still here, and Amos maintains her incredible songwriting from her previous albums. I think what I love the most about this album is how she captures the gambit of emotions a person can feel while healing. There are moments of joy ... read more

After Little Earthquakes (I personally love this album after 3-4 listening), Tori Amos improved her songwriting's talent with Under the Pink and a large presence of piano. Every pieces are very emotional (like little Earthquakes) and well-produced.

The difference between LE and UTP is that T.A had more artistic freedom (It's ironical to think that some producers said to TA before 90's "A lonely girl with a piano mmmh that's may be a flop), she used more piano and atypical instruments. ... read more
