Drowned in Sound

Weed Garden is a worthwhile and often gorgeous mini-album that strikes quietly but memorably in its’ finer moments.

Pitchfork

Although it’s neither as purposeful nor as prescient as many of his earlier EPs, Sam Beam’s latest release carries far more weight than its self-deprecating title implies.

AllMusic

Weed Garden is a nice little diversion, and finds both Beam and the band he oversees at the top of their long-running game.

Exclaim!

A six-song EP of previously unfinished material, nevertheless feels like Iron & Wine in their truest form — honest, naturalistic, charming.

PopMatters

Sam Beam is still able to express that nostalgic combination of melancholy and hope, even when taking a safe approach to songwriting on Weed Garden.

This EP is far from perfect. The middle songs are rough. But it slows down my heart and mind like almost nothing else. It makes me feel connected to the earth and myself. Basically, Iron & Wine just means a lot to me. Sooooo original, i know.

Under rated, smooth and easy to listen to. I love his story telling, his soft guidance through emotion, he's a leader in the genre and in each song. Great quality for how short it is.
