I'm going to say this immediately up front..,
This is quite possibly the most underrated metal album of the 80s.
Crimson Glory absolutely deliver a masterpiece of US power/prog metal that easily stands up with anything by Fates Warning and comes damn close to Queensryche and Iron Maiden territory.
Led by the amazing vocals of Midnight (RIP), Transcendence is full of catchy riffs, tasty lead guitar, and excellent songwriting

Relisten and yeah seriously, this man (the unequalled Midnight) has a voice so goddamn monumental and earth-rending that even the love ballad "Lonely" ends up being made excellent. On top of having a great lead riff and catchy hook tbf. This album is loaded with awesome riffs in fact with special mention going to that NASTY one on Lady of Winter.

Crimson Glory’s sophomore album avoided the dreaded slump and is perhaps their greatest offering ever. It refines their metal sound into something that should’ve made them champions of the American heavy metal scene.
