The Chicago rapper’s latest project as his alter-ego named Swervo is all velocity. He delivers some of his starkest verses like a steamroller, almost completely desensitized.
As it stands, this album plays more like a carefully constructed mixtape and less like G Herbo’s official sophomore effort. As a body of work, it is nowhere near as essential as Herbo’s debut or his stellar mixtapes Welcome 2 Fazoland and Ballin Like Kobe.
Herb's cocky album. Hearing him for the first time in that urban1on1 freestyle years ago to this is a big chance in a person. I barely recognize him musically. It isn't bad though really. I think Pac n Dre and Tweakin are hard skips, Honestly with Juice WRLD was an extremely disappointing collab. and the rest are re-playable. Who Run It is a great remix, too. Hard respect for this album after a few years.
Without a doubt one of the most underrated rapper & producer collabs of the last 10 years, maybe of all time. G Herbo has always been one of my favorite new gen rappers because he is in fact insanely versatile despite his voice making it not seem like that. The two songs "That's How I Grew Up" and "Letter" represent my point perfectly. Even though they are both rap songs, they are completely different in content.
