These are serious musicians, great songwriters and subtle arrangers, and they've made a classic pop record that deserves play by anyone who recognizes that songs don't need to make the most noise or be the shiniest new thing to have an impact in the emotional life of the listener.
Somehow it manages to project both a distant sadness and cling to hope and happiness.It’s quite the undertaking for a rather understated dream pop album.
In many ways, Siesta is so unassuming, that it needs to be taken in slowly and carefully. You don’t need to sit with this record intently to appreciate its charm, but repeat listens reveal the album’s subtle details.
What can I say? I'm a sucker for sugary indie rock.
