XXL

Indulgent, polished and deeply personal, Trippie Redd’s debut studio is a course correction. Life’s a Trip succeeds by placing Redd’s narrative at its core and leaning into the inventive melodies that initially put the young rapper on the map.

HipHopDX

Trippie’s experimentations and genre-blending on Life’s a Trip has to be appreciated (seeing as it eventually will breed a better-rounded artist).

Pitchfork

Life’s a Trip is stuffed with forced production choices that impair Trippie’s over-the-top voice from hitting all of its quirks. It’s clear Trippie needs more time to develop his sound and iron out a direction that doesn’t feel like a detour.

The Needle Drop

Life's a Trip has some surprisingly beautiful highlights, but Trippie Redd's lyrics, song structures, and vocal consistency are still lacking overall.

The dudes got talent but where's the ambition he showed on Dark Knight Dummo?

Life's a Trip shows what you can accomplish with having a good amount of sonic diversity while sticking with a sound and aesthetic that doesn't feel disjointed or all over the place. Even on some tracks ... read more

Trippie's Debut album is fun project overshadowed by better rap project from that year. He shows his best. Great, catchy trap production on some songs. Lyrics are okay, but his voice is intriguing and i like it. he also jumps to other styles. There are rock influence on How You Feel and Underwater FlyZone. He spits in style of Young Mc from late 90's or early 00's on Missing My Idols and Oomps Revenge
