Indulgent, polished and deeply personal, Trippie Redd’s debut studio is a course correction. Life’s a Trip succeeds by placing Redd’s narrative at its core and leaning into the inventive melodies that initially put the young rapper on the map.


Trippie’s experimentations and genre-blending on Life’s a Trip has to be appreciated (seeing as it eventually will breed a better-rounded artist).


Life’s a Trip is stuffed with forced production choices that impair Trippie’s over-the-top voice from hitting all of its quirks. It’s clear Trippie needs more time to develop his sound and iron out a direction that doesn’t feel like a detour.

Life's a Trip has some surprisingly beautiful highlights, but Trippie Redd's lyrics, song structures, and vocal consistency are still lacking overall.

Surprisingly cohesive and pleasing to the ears, well at most times.
wow I hate his voice

there were parts I liked, and then immediately after I would regret that statement. But....

fave tracks: Taking A Walk is actually good though! Hopefully, he keeps growing as an artist. Others highlights? include BANG, UKA UKA & Oomps Revenge
People love to hate this type of music. Trippie hasn't created anything revolutionary or genre-advancing here and there is the fair share of instrumentals which would benefit from a more compelling soundscape. However, the tracks on the record offer a great variation in mood and tempo and Trippie is just as intriguing in his soulful melancholy singing as he is in his lyrically savvy and upbeat rapping. Although his voice can get old & partially straining to the ears at times, it's not bad actually. That album cover is amazing tho, damn.
