I had no real impression of Alice Cooper beyond the image of the man in the top hat who does theatrical performances with horror themes. I knew and enjoyed Poison, but had no idea it was him. Hearing this album and seeing the cover gave me an entirely different impression of a more exuberant artist. A lot of the songs are vibrant, most garnering a score of eight or higher. Black Juju (04) is a nine-minute masterpiece, but my overall favorite was the last track, Sun Arise.
9. Second Coming
8. Black Juju
7. Hallowed Be My Name
6. Is It My Body
5. Sun Arise
4. Caught in a Dream
3. Long Way to Go
2. Ballad of Dwight Fry
1. I'm Eighteen
Very good
This is my favorite of the original band albums before Alice went solo. It is amazing how much this band had improved at this point and what a difference producer Bob Ezrin made. These songs still have a raw feel but also a good sense of melody. Caught in a Dream is one of my favorite Alice tunes.
Caught In A Dream - 7/10
I'm Eighteen - 10/10
Long Way To Go - 8/10
Black Juju - 6/10
Is It My Body - 7/10
Hallowed Be My Name - 7/10
Second Coming - 6/10
Ballad of Dwight Fry - 6/10
Sun Arise - 7/10

Overall Rating: 64 out of 90 = 71%
