While I can definitely see the appeal of a record like this, Avantdale Bowling Club can often feel sluggish despite the fact it doesn’t even hit the hour-long mark where that critique often rears its head. The jazz elements of this album just strike me as a bit too standard and Tom Scott himself, for how well he words himself, never really struck me as a compelling rapper throughout my few listens of the album.
