While it's not as cohesive as Poppy.Computer, Am I a Girl? definitely isn't stale, and it succeeds at expanding Poppy's sound and identity enough to keep fans listening and guessing.
Poppy and her collaborators have gotten a lot better at working her persona into her music and crafting creative pop songs since last year's Poppy.Computer.
Am I a Girl? is an enjoyable enough club record, but it fails to add anything new to the conversation.

I remember listening to Poppy’s “Am I A Girl” about a year ago and I thought this was a pretty fun pop-type album. I honestly did quite like a good handful of these songs, especially towards the end. However, there are moments where I feel like some parts throughout the LP can sound a bit repetitive, and some moments where it’s not really interesting. All that aside though , Play Destroy is such a banger.
