Consequence of Sound

If you’re already a fan of Voivod, then you know how incredibly unique they are, and the quality of songwriting on The Wake is top-notch, making it one of the strongest metal albums of the year.

Metal Hammer
Fifty-six minutes of the wildest and densest music they’ve made in a long time, it’s unmistakably Voivod, but somehow bigger, more colourful and more avowedly psychedelic than ever before.
Voivod may be veterans at this point, but they're still providing one-of-a-kind vivaciousness.
Rolling Stone

The Wake, the band’s 14th LP, offers definitive proof that the old, weird Voivod is back: It’s arguably their most hyper-detailed, gloriously geeky album since the Eighties.

The Wake signals a new chapter for Voivod; they stand (again) at the blade edge of creative imagination and visionary execution in the world of extreme music.

Metal Injection

The Wake is cinematic and unpredictable, with Voivod using maps from throughout their career to bring the listener on an enjoyable ride filled with twists and turns.

The Wake continues Voivod's musical legacy with a pulse-pounding album that stands alongside their classics.

Spectrum Culture

With The Wake, the band’s longstanding conceptual narrative thread becomes even more involved, tangled in ways that could make a Thomas Pynchon novel seem like a bedtime story. Never mind whether you can follow it intricacies; in the end, this Voivod album is about the musical adventure, and there’s plenty to be had.

In a year filled of bland folk and electro pop, even the most unfun, flavorless metal this year is getting rave reviews. This is how far we've fallen
This is a amazing metal album probably my favorite this year. The biggest thing for me with metal albums is the voice. Usually the instrumental is amazing but the voice always holds it back but that is not the case for this album. Everything with this album just clicks and it’s definitely worth your time.
