I always said that I heavily anticipate DROGAS WAVE since Lupe confirmed it's Tetsuo & Youth-like feeling, but I was very skeptical, because he's known for being disappointing throughout his career...the 98 minutes runtime lessened this thoughts, but other worries came to mind due to it's length...

...but...but....BUUUUUUTTTTTTTT...goddamn, this album is amazing...the Lupe all wanted...rhyme schemes on point, lyricism and metaphors on point, concept is intricate and really ... read more

Opinions are subject to change.

Before The Album:
This is going to be good. Lasers may have been bad because of label trouble. Drogas light was bad (no to me but most people) because Lupe wanted it to be. When Lupe is serious he makes beautiful art. So let's see what he has for me.

The Review:
Yeah this was just as great as I thought it'd be. This was a proper successor to Tetsuo & Youth. Nearly every song was lyrically intricate and most of the production on here is very good. One ... read more

Lupe pushes himself creatively to make his best album yet. The concept is very vivid. The album is filled with waster eggs and many hidden things that Lupe fans will try to figure out, and the more they figure out the better the album will be for every day listeners. This is not an album anyone should rate after 1-10 listens. The album itself is filled with metaphors and some of the best lyrics I’ve heard. This album easily has the best production out of a Lupe album, as well as his best ... read more

I went into this expecting this to be like DROGAS Light. I was WRONG...VERY WRONG. This is easily one of Lupe Fiasco's strongest concepts, with excellent lyrics and flow, interesting production choices, and is actually incredibly consistent despite it having the runtime of a feature-length film! I'm very impressed with this comeback from Lupe. My opinions could change in a couple of months, but this is solidified for one of the best hip hop albums of 2018.

Lupe has outdone himself. This is easily his boldest, most lyrically impressive album yet. The production on this thing is top notch too. The whole story is incredible as well. I can't believe Lupe is back in 2018 with an album of the year contender.

So I've decided to revisit this to see if i loved it as much as it did as it came out.And it really grew on me

Lupe really pushed himself conceptually on this project which is presented all thru out his discography. but the first 8 songs is probably the best he has ever done that and even after that it still keeps going on even when it doesn't show it.

The length of this album might turn people off when you see it's 100 but i think the quality of this album persists even thru the 100 ... read more

Lupe Fiasco shows hip-hop how to properly release a long album.

Up there with Big K.R.I.T.s 4Eva Is A Mighty Long Time, this album is for oldheads who want a big, chunky, meaty helping of classic hip-hop vibes and something that is worth their money. I think Drogas Wave is that release. Packed full of bangers, tasteful political messages that are easy to swallow, and fun beats with Fiasco's masterful riding of said beats, this album just works, and ... read more

Mas pra levar a ... read more

With a story that flies over many heads, this is sure a genius work from Lupe. The messages he sends through each song is quite captivating and like mega deep, and as always lupe’s Lyricism is nothing but spectacular. This is great comeback for Lupe.

Honestly this record is so fresh. It's just nice. The production is impeccable and so are Lupe's lyrics which is always the case. I love this record so much. It blew me away. A 24 track album that runs for 100 minutes managed to hold my attention the entire time and was consistently entertaining the entire time. I listened to this thing like 10 times after one day and it still had the same affect. There are no bad tracks on this thing and Lu delivers a lot of tracks that are some of his best to ... read more

I was disappointed about last album because tetsuo &youth was so good. I think if someone compare this album to testuo, they will choose testuo. But to me, drogas wave is better. Mural jr. can be one of my best song which lupe made.

A slog of an album with some pretty ambitious lyrical themes but falls flat on its face musically

WAV Files is a masterpiece, so far the only issue is that the album is too long

An essential listen in Lupe's discography, and definitely one of his best.

A concept album with three different concepts, this album is chock full of great songs. I would even say the 98 minute run time is excusable since there is barely any filler on here. Conceptually, this album is as strong as the likes of a gkmc.

Overall, it's about resurection. In the beginning Lupe talks about a slave ship that is sinking but instead of all the slaves dying, they survive and live on the sea, taking ... read more

This thing is crazy PERIOD. He takes everything great from his career and blends it together and upgrades it TENFOLD. The production is arguably the best of his career, and his hook game on this album is crazy. His verses and concepts are incredibly creative as well.

Its simply masterful.. layers upon layers of concepts and complex lyrics that will attract souls who like to contemplate.

Also the ever great lyrics are matched with quality production. This is lit.

Everything felt over-stretched and unnecessary long. It sure has it's moments and lyrically it's top notch, but music is also about not getting bored, and if i'm being honest i tapped out three times during the 1 hour 40 minutes runtime.

I have never been high on Lupe. Haven’t loved a Lupe album since The Cool. However, this album is anything short of amazing. Love the production, start to finish Lupe does an amazing job at creating a classic album that keeps me entertained and highly engaged the whole way through. Normally it’s hard to keep me listening through 24 tracks, which Lupe does with this album. I’m very impressed with this project, whether it’s adding aquatic elements to tell the story of the ... read more

DROGAS Wave was originally announced for release in 2016 along with two other albums in the DROGAS trilogy: Light and Skulls. Light released in February 2017 and contained a bunch of hype, poppy tracks, but nothing much else. However, it was Lupe’s last album in his Atlantic Records contract, which was one of the reason why Lasers and Light were so poppy; Atlantic forced him to make that sound.

But Lupe does much better when he has creative freedom to make what he wants. His first two ... read more

Concept sounds great but is not elaborated on as great as everyone else says. Could have been amazing but Lupe does not stay on topic in an effective way all the way through.
