For most people, this is Mariah's favorite album, and honestly it might just be my favorite one as well. She set a mark for female pop artists back then, that still to this day she's inspiring so many. The production is so good, like legit good, and the melodies doesn't sound the same which is even better. Her voice is so mature as well, and she sang with so much confidence, and that makes each song so unique in their own way.
In this album Mariah achieved what she aimed for - a pop album that became a classic, and not just individuals songs. This is one of the best pop albums in the past 25 years. It's no surprise that she changed her music style after she released it, because it's almost impossible to recreate an album like this again. She will let go of pop music (except the album Rainbow) in favor to R&B.
Fav - Always be my baby
Hands down, my personal favourite Mariah album (and of many others too), and these tracks don't need much explaining as to why they are so brilliant. In particular the first half of the album is just a perfect soundscape of vocal pop and R&B, defining the genre itself.
