NR
This is a solid effort from the Whigs but they've bettered this sound on at least three other albums - a couple of dull songs kill all momentum on 'Side B' plus I'm not majorly won over by 'Citi Soleil' that closes the first half of the album either (sometimes Dulli's vocals can get a bit too OTT, grasping and unpleasant).

About as consistently good as an album can get before earning the bump up to a qualifying rating, but alas, here it stays on a regrettable NR.

The dynamic combination of alternative rock, R&B and soul music is wonderful.

At last, this is the soul record that The Afghan Whigs always wanted to make but towards the end, they kept changing their mind: Α sexy temptation that urges th listener to go out in the night and look for that number.
