Much respect is due for artists who go out on a limb and experiment with their sound, which is exactly what Mos Def did onl here. Veering away from his hip hop roots, Mos Def constructs a project that resembles the sound of a heavy rap-rock album. While the idea sounds promising on paper, The New Danger’s interior is so inconsistent and contains sounds that are beyond strident (the mastering is AWFUL) that the enjoyment factor is sucked away.

It probably gets better with time or with replays, but I'm really confused about this after recently listening to his classic for the first time.
