Switching lanes can keep things fresh, but here it sounds more like Jaden doesn’t really know what he wants to achieve.

The Needle Drop

The Sunset Tapes just sounds like it doesn't matter.

Like putting your dick in a VitaMix set to Knead
you can bet your sweet bottom dollar i Ain't gonna play "Play This On A Mountain At Sunset" During any such event.

Some nice production here and there but nothing to really be exited about. And Jaden...well, yeaaaah...
"Rap is one of my fetishes, like a dragon that's pregnant."
This is so generic and brainless it actually hurts.
He literally doesn't do anything on this entire project to create his own artistic identity. It's far from horrible, but the lack of charisma and personality are really gonna start hurting his prospects of truly being respected as a heavyweight in the world of hip hop, regardless of how much money he can pump into getting his career off the ground. If he doesn't stop ripping off clearly more developed artists soon, then no one is gonna be talking about him as a genuine artist in a few years.
The Sunset Tapes are a mess quite frankly. Starting with the one positive I have, well a least the productions pretty serviceable the rest well. Jaden is not bad at rapping he just goes about it the wrong way. Smith's verses are just poor with uninspired lyricism that is begging to be taken as deep with cliche writing.
