What Huncho is: a scattershot collection of fresh-yet-familiar thumpers that will nicely keep the Migos brand bubbling through the forthcoming solo sets from kinfolk Offset and Takeoff. This is step one in building anticipation for the inevitable reunion record of three voices that, until proven otherwise, are best experienced playing off one another.
The album is very on-brand for Quavo and doesn’t stray far from the musical stylings he dishes out on each and every Migos song. In short, most of these cuts sound just like Migos songs just sans Takeoff and Offset ... That said, Takeoff’s rapid-fire verses and Offset’s ominous presence are both missed dearly when rounding out these trap cuts – leaving the majority of them sounding far from complete.
With a mostly forgettable first half and a strong second half, sharper attention to editing could have made this a stronger album. Otherwise, Quavo Huncho is enjoyable but unmemorable.
By the end of the project, Quavo Huncho begins to feel more like a mixtape, with Quavo popping out to add a few unenergetic verses and repetitive adlibs rather than a strong solo debut.
It is so ordinary, so uniquely uninspiring that it makes it difficult to imagine a solo work from Quavo that would truly grip our attention (or our club nights or car stereos).
QUAVO HUNCHO ends up being a half-and-half affair: half making it easy to hit the skip button and the other half highlighting the talents Quavo brings to Migos.
If nothing else, Quavo Huncho suggests that Quavo's dependence on Takeoff and Offset doesn't run quite as deep as one might think. But what little appeal the album ends up having has less to do with him, and more to do with the features and variety of production.
People like to joke that the Migos are the new Beatles, but QUAVO HUNCHO isn’t a classic breakaway solo effort in the vein of John Lennon’s Plastic Ono Band, Paul McCartney’s Ram or George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass… it’s more like one of Ringo’s.
Quavo isn't exactly a time traveler, but he's definitely a master of time distortion. After all, how else could you make 4 minutes feel like 6?
Quavo Huncho.
For a year with so many different standout artists, the Migos were certainly having trouble garnering any positive critical reception during 2018. Culture II, one of the first big releases of the year, was majorly panned for being way too fucking long and boring for it's own good. And since then, general excitement for more Migos music has grown smaller and smaller, perfectly exemplified by the negative amount of hype that came with the announcement that Quacko, Early-Offset ... read more
Quavo is a 27 year old rapper, singer, songwriter & producer from Atlanta, Georgia who rose to prominence in 2013 as 1/3 of the Migos with his nephew Takeoff & his cousin Offset. He also formed the duo Huncho Jack in late 2016 with one of the most creative minds in hip hop today: Travis Scott, dropping their debut album Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho at the very end of last year. He then got back with Takeoff & Offset at the beginning of THIS year to drop the Migos’ 3rd full length ... read more

Just now i'm realizing how much has Quavo changed in just 5 years, also how mich better is Rocket Power compared to this 2018 project.
This would work if it was a Migos project because they never had a serious theme going on on their albums, but the music was fire thanks to the production and the chemistry of the 3.
Here it's just Quav by himself rapping about making/having money and sometimes racism or something idk really.
Without the punchy trap beats, it's very ... read more
