The Needle Drop

ZillaKami and SosMula bring a ton of bark and not too much else to this debut City Morgue album.

One of the only albums this year that I feel I haven't been skeptical going into it. 33rd Blakk Glass is one of the best songs of the year, and I didn't realize just how excited I was for this project until I saw that it finally came out.

Does it live up to the hype? I mean honestly, it didn't have to do all that much to win me over. To be fair, this album is pretty much the Lil Pump mixtape, but it is the final evolution. This is just cocaine. Zilla and Mula stick to their guns, and deliver ... read more

City Morgue’s new album is perhaps the start of a new trend in the trap community with the blending of trap and metal, which I guess you could call “trapcore”. Zillakami is the standout on this project as he consistently delivers in your face and psychotic verses. The album is a tight 32 minutes and not overstaying it’s welcome at all which an album as aggressive as this could have done had it been 50 minutes or so. I think I was just about as hyped as anyone else was for this album, and I would like to say, even more so. The singles leading up to this album have been addicting as shit, with them practically being overplayed (same thing goes for the rest of this album now). But the thing is, when I first listened to this a couple of times, I wasn't entirely hooked as I was with the likes of "33rd Blakk Glass" or "SHINNERS13", but surprisingly, for how one-note this may seem, it grew ... read more
