Three is not ... a life-affirming masterpiece but a mildly hip and self-consciously mature collection of pop by committee.
Three sees the Sugababes moving towards a more urban sound while maintaining their signature edge, making it less commercial than Angels with Dirty Faces but still accessible. I like the structure of the record since each of the members has a solo song where they can showcase their artistry. It's a consistent body of work but they truly shine through in the ballads.
Highlights: Too Lost in You, Hole in the Head and Caught in a Moment.
A more club friendly version of their previous effort. A real treat is each girl has a solo song featured.
Download: Caught in a Moment, We Could Have it All, Too Lost in You, Whatever Makes You Happy
This is by far the best Sugababes album. It's more R&b than pop but still danceable. "In the Middle" and "Nasty Getto" must be my least favourites from here while "Caught in the Moment" or "Conversation's Over" are the best. One of the defining moments of the golden era of British pop.
