The beats Metro cooked up for this one were top notch throughout, adding some refreshing sounds to the current trap landscape. With retirement in the rearview mirror and a 21 Savage album on the horizon, Not All Heroes Wear Capes solidifies the return of one of this era’s most trusted producers.

Highsnobiety

Metro Boomin should be praised for creating something that’s so consistently engaging. His dominance as hip-hop’s go-to-producer shows no signs of fading and we can only hope he avoids the retirement talk in the future.

Pitchfork

The Atlanta producer returns with a guest-filled album that builds on and creates a bigger version of the dark, hard-hitting production that has turned him into rap’s definitive producer.

The Needle Drop

Not All Heroes Wear Capes is a pretty cohesive listen for a producer-guided album, but it's not fire from front to back.

VERDICT: Welcome back Metro, we missed you. I'm so glad now that Metro 'retired', you can see the time he put into the production throughout the album - the sound is phenomenal. Every feature was great including *gasp* Kodak. Honestly didn't know if Metro could remain a step ahead of every other producer but I was proven wrong.
