I remember most of these songs from my childhood and they always seemed magical to me. Safe to say they still sound that way, just much of a different direction for U2.

The first six songs off this album are familiar, either through being big hits, or else by ending in Muzak pumped through stores. Regardless, having six familiar songs in an opening guarantees a placement above a nine in my ratings for the album, despite my personal feelings. I cannot judge the first half-dozen fairly, because I may had enjoyed them on their first rotations, and not after the two-hundredth time of hearing them.
