The story behind Extraordinary Machine is a tantilizing one that helps to clarify some of what you're hearing across the record. From the initial recording to the label not seeing any definitive singles, Apple re-recording many of the tracks and the leak of the original album, and finally the finished album being released after laborous years. I’m turning into an Apple

Even if this isn’t the most impressive and consistent Fiona Apple album, this is still a very solid release. I’d say her other albums feel a bit more like they are in the same atmosphere, while this one feels a little more jagged. I mean the recording process for this was really scattered, and you can kind of hear that a little. My dad had this album on CD, and that’s where I first heard some of these songs. this feels like a fiona apple album without the apple

aint bad but it's just... missing something. everything done on here was done better and felt fuller on tidal and when the pawn. despite that there's still highlights and shouldn't be completely discarded as a part of fiona's discography.
