The Line of Best Fit

Aside from being a near-perfect collection of belting pop, Sucker Punch also carries a message of triumphant grace.

80
God Is in the TV

You might think you know her from the singles and their style is evident throughout. But she packs a surprising, unexpected uppercut of her own in the form of compositions that you couldn’t see coming.

80
Loud and Quiet

A debut that, even in its melancholy moments, carries an undercurrent of unbridled fun.

80
NME
The Norwegian superstar-in-waiting comes good on a debut album laden with potential chart bangers, flexing the edgier side of her likeable pop persona.
80
musicOMH

The narrative may be light and oft charted, but what an impressive and impassioned debut album from Sigrid Sucker Punch is.

80
AllMusic

Sucker Punch is a masterful debut from a promising talent unafraid to just be herself.

80
The Independent

At her best, Sigrid throws out precision-tooled high notes like icicle javelins into vast, blue Scandi-produced skies. Then she growls like an Icelandic volcano preparing to disrupt western civilisation until we sort ourselves out.

80
Dork
This is modern pop at its very best, and a much-needed jolt in the arm for anyone looking to follow in Sigrid’s shoes.
80
Clash
A bold, tremulous feat, ‘Sucker Punch’ will leave you floored.
80
Drowned in Sound
Sigrid has created a truly unique and recognisable debut record which I’m sure is a sign of spectacular things to come.
80
The Skinny

It’s certainly an assured debut, impeccably written and produced in a way that captures the singer as both youthful and soulful.

80
PopMatters

With a punchy, often arena-ready set of songs on Sucker Punch, Sigrid struggles productively and wisely with the efforts life and love demand of us all.

70
Exclaim!

On Sucker Punch, Sigrid dips her toes in a slightly less mainstream current in order to navigate the space between Top 40 success and indie pop credibility.

70
DIY
'Sucker Punch’ does much as the name suggests. It’s full of swooping, dramatic choruses and clean-cut vocals, where almost every song is a potential radio hit - only that’s not a bad thing.
70
GIGsoup

The long-awaited debut album from the young Norwegian chart-intruder is a bouncy, electric invite into a pop landscape that you would want to spend a lifetime in.

70
Rolling Stone

On her debut LP Sucker Punch, she smooths out strange moods into glistening songs, making for top-shelf coffee shop synth-pop.

70
Gigwise

Sucker Punch is vibrant and fluorescent, it’s the album everyone was expecting but nonetheless an album that can be enjoyed, and boy does it quite literally pack a punch.

60
The Guardian

Sucker Punch is a collection of spotless, businesslike pop informed more by extreme competence than the strident, independent-mindedness her persona promises.

60
The Observer

There’s a slight feeling, for all the quality here, that she could have maintained her momentum while taking a few more risks with her high-polish sound.

60
Pitchfork

On her debut, the Norwegian pop phenom offers a patina of fresh-faced authenticity and not much else.

50
Spectrum Culture

Sucker Punch falls solidly in the middle of offensive and benign, as if it adhered strictly to the most palatable, inoffensive influences.

Normcore queen delivers on her debut album. Though half of the album had already been released, it's still a really fun and enjoyable debut. Great production and vocals with her signature explosive sound and some really unexpected tracks. I still wish 'High Five' made it on her album

I very rarely find myself singing along to every single track on an album. Sigrid’s ability to write catchy hooks is astounding and there are lots of fresh pop elements sprinkled throughout the production of the album to keep it interesting. After three listens I can actually say that I found this record to be exceptional. It is everything I want out of a pop record. I am going to be bopping the majority of these songs for the next few months!

The lyrical themes were a tad generic and I ... read more

I expected this to be a really generic project... and it was. But that doesn't really matter because this album is fun and it's full of danceable tracks. Much more fun than something like Maggie Rogers 2019 album

I am pretty surprised; this album is a solid and well-made debut! Sigrid has an ear for stadium-ready pop and a pleasant singing voice. At times she leans a little generic, but there are enough fun bops that I enjoy the entire record. She sounds like she would be a fun performer to watch; her confidence makes the overly anthemic bops more convincing than I was expecting. Sigrid's bravado is infectious, and she partners her fun personality with dynamic synths for a surprisingly resonant listen. ... read more
