The Skinny

A little piece of gothic rock history that should sit proudly in the record collection of any fan of The Cure, Joy Divison, Siouxsie and the Banshees et al.

Crack Magazine

The EP feels fragile and improvised, and moments that aim at building tension sometimes fall flat. But there’s a rawness that hints at the band’s talent, even in their formative stage.

Spectrum Culture

The slender collection makes the argument that less is more.

Under The Radar

Only the most diehard Bauhaus collectors need The Bela Session in their shrine.

Bela Lugosi's Dead is an iconic track but the rest of the songs don't live up to it.

I LOVE Bauhaus and what they did to music. 'In The Flat Field' is one of my favorite records of the 80s! I like what they were trying to do here. Eerie and minimalistic build ups, but I'm not really digging this one. To its defense it wasn't meant to be a full fledged release.
