Longtime Kyuss fans might be disappointed at the relative lack of heaviness, but R's direction was hinted at on the first QOTSA album, and Homme's experimentation really opens up the band's sound, pointing to exciting new directions for heavy guitar rock in the new millennium.
This is one of the best Rock albums I have heard for ages.
A heady mix of speed-addled punk rock, huge, sky-filling psychedelic majesty and sex-crazed black humour. For fans of Kyuss, this is his best album since 'Welcome To Sky Valley', for everyone else, it's just the best, most important rock album for years.
It's a strange, category-evading rock record, a mystery disc of gravity and low humor, of punk aggression and love-bead contentment; when you try to nail down the band's personality, it won't stay still.
