Listen, right. There's a lot of things that I have to say about this album that I wasn't that big of a fan of. The project, for as much of a thematic connection it maintains, it still feels rather disjointed, as the multitude of styles Posner tries out over the runtime don't coexist very well. The lyrics come off often as if I'm being force-fed a message down my ear canal, which is never well received. And, in all honesty, the instrumentation rarely impressed me.

A Real Good Kid shows the mental effects of the Music Industry and Death

Worst Track: Amen
Really heartfelt and doesn't seem forced for the most part. The actual songs are pretty catchy and tame which makes me think the intro was completely not needed and almost ruined listening to the album. Generally a pop album
Faves: Wide Open
When I heard Song About You I got excited for this album. And when I heard the intro I got worried. Anytime an artist tells you how to listen to an album like you are a child, that's a red flag. A Real Good Kid seems to walk the line between these two extremes; at times being extremely good, usually from some amazing, loud and experimental production, while other times it comes off preachy, cringey, and radio formulaic. It's no secret Posner has been off the grid for a couple years now. Following the success of Grammy nominated, "I Took A Pill in Ibiza", the musician had a series of losses ranging from a break up with his girlfriend to losing his father to brain cancer (and his best friend to an overdose).

A real good kid is N O T an album made for success. It's not gonna be a radio friendly album. There are multiple songs that are under a minute, as well as songs that are over five minutes.
