Loud and Quiet

Daughter fans looking for more of their panoramic leanings will be let down, but for everybody else this is a beautifully understated mood piece and Tonra’s finest work to date, with or without the band.

Northern Transmissions

Tonra has now unleashed a collection of songs both personal and subtly visceral, leaving relatable sonic imprints for the listener to contemplate.

DIY
Fully-formed, rich and incredibly affecting.

Clash

While there isn't always a tonne sonically to separate this from Tonra's day job, it must be applauded for its brutal honesty and moments of pure poetry.

AllMusic

The forlorn "Too Sad" is an example of a more high-contrast entry that alternates quiet piano and fuzz, but with "My Heart," Ex:Re finally disintegrates into silence.

Everything expected by a member of daughter, delivered so wonderfully, it all but eclipses any of daughter's releases.

Solid feminine breakup music for indieheads. I enjoyed it quite a bit and fully expect my score to go up with repeat listens.

Serving songs that feel cheap and generic, I did not quite enjoy this album. Translating sadness into sound is something tricky and something that requires a lot of skill. The end result feels like a first draft that needed some more finetuning, the writing and sound needed some more depth. I expected a more creative spin, like Mitski does, instead of this generic result.
